“I have a disability, but growing up my parents never treated me any differently. School was hard for me, it wasn’t my favourite place to be. I was pretty isolated from my peers. When I got my first job that was a big achievement. It had been a massive goal to be able to earn my own money and live an independent life. People said I wouldn’t be able to do that, but I have no ears, I don’t listen to people, and I did it. Working gives me a sense of belonging, that I’ve done something in the community. Be yourself, don’t worry about anybody else. They will have their opinions of you, but you know yourself. If you have a goal, go get it. It won’t come to you.”
it’s really true indeed……. it’s sad that people that don’t have disabilities are judgemental to those who do have it…. you are amazing…
