“My dad met my mum when he was at university. He was studying to be an accountant but he had to drop out when mum got pregnant. Despite this he placed great value on education. That same value was passed down to me. Last year I received a scholarship to attend university and I put it on myself to redeem my dad’s studies, my road was set. But when I went to uni I found that it wasn’t working for me. It was eating me up inside. I dropped out but lied to my Dad for a month, saying that I was studying from home. Performing arts was my passion and one night my Dad came to see me in a production. He was blown away and so proud of me, and it was then that I told him I was dropping out of uni. It was one of the hardest things I have done. But what I learnt from that was, whatever I commit to with my heart I will succeed in, and my heart is in performing.”
