Then in Year 13, I made new friends who introduced me to God, and started me on a faith journey. God became so real to me, he became my dad! This journey allowed me to let go of the struggles I had faced in my childhood and instead use my story to help others. In 2016 I was the first person in my family to graduate from university. I got to the end of the stage and saw my family. They sang hymns and ran to greet me with lei’s. It was so magical. I was so proud of the village that raised me. My mum wasn’t there to witness it as she had to work; she has missed out on seeing a lot of what I do because of work, but I told her that it was OK. She knows she was the reason I was there that day.
