When I proposed to my wife I was so stressed! It’s not normal in traditional Samoan culture and I didn’t know how to go about buying the ring or anything. I planned everything for Anzac day and we went for a drive to Maraetai. I had planned to ask her at the beach as it is the place I feel closest to my Dad. He passed away in the sea. It’s a place where I feel calm and happy. We were really close to the beach when the petrol light came on! We had to turn around and go and get petrol.
After seven years of being together I finally asked her and she said yes! I love her big heart for people. I love that she loves my family, my culture and is always really appreciative of anything that I give her, never expecting more. When she came to Samoa she cooked a samoan dinner on an open fire for my family. She is amazing and can actually do anything.
