“I started tagging when I was 11 years old. I did it for attention. I had a lack of attention and love as a young person. When you’re young and not getting enough affirmation, love, support, and encouragement from your parents, you figure out ways of getting it. I did it through tagging.
I used to destroy people’s property, motorways, businesses…I didn’t actually care. I got caught all the time, from security guards to police. I went to court and almost had to go to jail.
I didn’t have any aspirations or inspirations, but I wasn’t hopeless, just numb. I didn’t finish intermediate or high school.
A turning point came when I realised that I didn’t actually have to do what I was doing. I gave my heart to the Lord when I was 20. After this I made it my focus to do everything legally.
The choices I made have helped me achieve the desires of my heart, gaining attention and getting affirmation in a positive way.
I actually met my wife on the streets. I was at a wall and she was at a wall. We have now had more than 20 years together doing art. Our main drive and purpose is to inspire others with choice making, through a hands on approach to loving our community through art.”
