“Average” – A poem written by 13 year old Lakem
I am an average 13 year old
Living in an average yet over-sized world
Learning, doing, making, creating myself to survive this harsh cruel world
Standing at 6 foot, size 16 feet, being born at 6 kgs
In my family that’s average – from clown sized shoes to ripped up baggy shirts
From not being able to fit in most chairs, to struggling to climb these so-called average stairs
To not fitting massive hats – even the ones with a snap-back, but, as you may already know in my family that’s average.
I could keep going on and on on how my life’s already been made before I’ve even had my say
But as you already know in my family that’s what we call “Average”.
