“I can’t remember a single day in my life as a child or teenager that I wasn’t bullied. I was four years old when I knew I wasn’t in the right body. I also had an identical twin brother, which in my dad’s eyes was the reflection of what I should have been. I learned really early on that I had to have thick skin in order to protect myself.

The toughest phase in my life was being held in remand inside a men’s prison. I was repeatedly beaten and raped, I reached rock bottom and thought that suicide was my only option. But i’m still here.

I have had to work really hard to get my life back on track. Thanks to a lucky break and my amazing support network I have gone on to own and sell multiple businesses. I am now happily married and learning to accept apologies from bullies in the past.”
